Questions

Straight answers.

Including the ones where the answer is “no” or “not yet”.

Do I need an account?

No. Open the app and train — nothing to sign up for first. An account is only a backup. Without one you can still train and log everything; your profile and plan are view-only until you sign in, which you can do from Profile whenever you like.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Starting a session, logging a set, swapping an exercise, finishing, the weekly check-in, water, steps and marking a meal eaten all work with the network off, and every set is saved to your phone the moment you log it. A connection is needed the first time you open the app, to download the exercise and meal libraries; the first time you watch an exercise clip, after which it stays on your phone; and to sign in and back up.

What happens to my data if I sign out?

Signing out clears your training from the phone, including your progress photos, so the next person to pick it up sees nothing of yours. If something has not uploaded yet, or you have photos (which never upload), the app tells you before it deletes anything. Sign back in and everything that was backed up comes back.

Is it on the Play Store?

Not yet. When there is a public build it is installed directly as an APK, which means Android shows you an “unknown source” warning — expected for any app installed outside the store, and not a sign that something is wrong. The download page explains the steps.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not yet. Jirdhis is Android only for now, and there is no date for iOS.

Do my progress photos get uploaded?

No. They are stored on your phone and nowhere else — the database the app backs up to has no place for photos, and the sync skips them entirely. The flip side: deleting the app or signing out deletes them, and we cannot recover them, because we never had them.

Is it in Somali?

Yes. The whole app is in Somali and English, and you switch between them in a tap from Profile.

I have never lifted before. Is this for me?

Yes. It never asks you for a one-rep max — it starts from a light estimate and finds your real working load over two or three sessions. Every one of the 336 exercises has a short video clip and a written cue, so you can see a movement before you try it.

What does it ask me when I start?

A little about you — your weight, which is required, and your height, year of birth and sex, which make the meal targets more accurate. Then your goal, how many days you train and which program, the equipment you have, and anything to work around, like a sore knee. You see the plan it builds straight away.

What if I can only train at home with dumbbells?

Tell it so in the equipment step. Your equipment list filters every exercise in the library, so the plan only uses what you have. You can pick one of the seven programs or build your own.

Why does the week run Saturday to Thursday?

Because Friday is the day off. Every plan is laid out Saturday to Thursday, with Friday kept free.

What happens if I miss a week?

Nothing bad. There is no streak to break and no backlog of missed sessions. If you train fewer days than you planned for two weeks running, the plan rebuilds itself at the number of days you actually train, keeping every load you have achieved.

Can I count calories in it?

It sets them for you. From your weight, height, age and sex it works out daily calories, protein, carbs and fat, and builds a meal plan from 64 Somali dishes portioned to reach them, with swaps for anything you do not fancy. What it does not have is a food database to search and weigh things into.

Do I need a watch or another app for steps?

No. Steps are counted by your phone’s own step sensor while the app is open, and read from Health Connect for the hours it is closed, if you allow it. You can also type a number in yourself.

Is there a social feed or a community?

No. An empty room makes a new app look abandoned, and we are not going to fake it.

Is there an AI coach to chat to?

No. The plan changes by rules you can read on the how-it-works page, which we think is more trustworthy than a chat box.

Can I get my data out, or deleted?

Signing out, or deleting the app, removes everything from your phone straight away. Deleting your backed-up account has no button in the app yet, and the support contact is not published yet — the contact page says where that stands. Export is not built yet.

Something not answered?

Ask, and it gets added here.

The support contact is not published yet — see the contact page for exactly where that stands.
